Majority One
Began as The Mustangs in Hull, they renamed themselves The Majority and moved to London, where they released eight singles for Decca before renaming themselves Majority One in 1968. At the end of '68, they were backing Barry Ryan on his top ten hit "Eloise". Their first single was "Charlotte Rose", written by George Alexander from Grapefruit. Their most successful one was "Because I Love" in 1971. Their highly melodic songs evoke everything from 60s-era Bee Gees and Moody Blues, to haunting McCartney-like balladry, yet Majority One were still able to forge a distinctive sound based on these impeccable influences.
